According to a note in the manuscript catalogue of The Museum of Modern Western Art compiled by Ter-novetz, this was one of the favorite works of the Russian painter Valentin Serov. The canvas may be dated around 1908. A picture on the same motif entitled Mirror in a Green Room (1909) is in the John Herron Art Museum, Indianapolis (USA). The interior depicted in the Moscow canvas is close to that in Nude against the Light. Eau-de-Cologne (Musees Royaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels).
